Spelling: None today due to working on a science experiment involving separating salt and sand. Look for a Words to Learn list on Monday.
Cursive: Cursive worksheets pp. 27-29 were reviewed today.
Reading: We used reading time today to work on the sand and salt separation experiment.
Writing: We learned that it is important to use precise nouns when writing (instruction manual, not car booklet; jack, not thing that lifts the car up). Students also used today to work on their draft or start revising. Students should be revising by this weekend. The final piece of writing for this marking period is due Friday, November 3.
Math: Students completed a MiniQuiz today over place value and naming numbers many different ways.
Science: Students continued to work on separating sand and salt.
- Yellows: nine magnets
- Oranges: four magnets
- Reds: none
Ask your student what kind of choices they made.
- Hawaiian Beach Bash! That’s our Halloween party on October 31 from 2-4 pm. The menu: Hawaiian pizza, fruit kabobs, and punch. We are in need of families to donate towards the cost of pizza, provide plates, cups, napkins (Hawaiian-themed?), or chaperone at the time of the party. If you would like to help, just send in a note or email.
- Appointments are now being made for fall conferences, November 14-16. A sign-up sheet is located at the office windows.
- We are looking for donations of cardboard tubes (toilet tissue, paper towel, wrapping paper) for class projects. The tubes can be sent in any time during the year; this project will be on-going. Thanks for any help you can give!
