Class activities for Wednesday, January 17

Spelling: Today we continued forming words using the /ow/ sound, created by the ow and ou spelling patterns. Visit the spelling page to download a copy of the unit 6 spelling worksheets.

Cursive: Cursive worksheet pp. 57-59 are available and due Friday.

Reading: We continued our oral reading fluency project using picture books. Today, students selected their book and practiced reading with voice and expression to a different partner than yesterday.

Writing: Today students started writing the final copy of their monster directions. The final illustration and published directions page will be due this Friday, January 19. Search class book in the search box for previous posts on this project.

Math: Today students practiced estimating adding and subtracting decimals. Homework is to complete journal p. 87 and either worksheet p. 52 or p. 270.

Science: Today students went on an Energy Hunt in the school, looking for examples of light, sound, heat, motion, electrical or food energy. We also discussed the Energy Fair, which will be on Tuesday, January 23. Students will bring in an object that demonstrates a form of energy. They will also create a sign that states the object, primary form of energy, and any other forms of energy demonstrated. Here is an explanation of the project.

Social Studies: None due to publishing our class book.

Behavior Update:

  • Yellows: 1 magnet
  • Oranges: 0 magnets
  • Reds: 0 magnets

Ask your student what kind of choices they made.
