Class activities for Thursday, October 1

Spelling:  We discussed the answer to the question, “Though my idea may change, right now I’d like to grow up to become ________.” We noticed that all the jobs students wanted to have one day would require working hard to gain knowledge in school and college.

Cursive: Cursive worksheet pp. 32-34 are available and due Friday.

Reading: Students completed a computerized reading assessment today.

Writing: None today due to technology.

The next piece of writing, a personal narrative, will be due Friday, October 16. Students should be working on their draft by now.

Math: We did an experiment to analyze three-dimensional figures. Homework is to finish the 3-D Figures activity if not done in class.

Science: We reviewed forms of energy today.

The Energy Fair is tomorrow. See here for more information about the Energy Fair.

Social Studies: We read an article from the 1847 Michigan Tribune about an attempted capture of fugitive of slaves in Battle Creek. Students also wrote questions, connections, illustrations and passages about the events of the article.
