Class activities for Wednesday, January 13
Spelling: Students completed a spelling and skill test today.
Cursive: Cursive worksheet pp. 54-56 are due tomorrow. Worksheet pp. 57-59 are also now available in class.
Reading: None today due to an assembly by some Grand Blanc High School peer mediators about bullying.
Writing: We read the book, Scarecrow by Cynthia Rylant, and noticed that her book contained both general and specific details. It is important for writing to have both kinds of details. If the writing has too many general details, the writing seems floaty, fluffy, not real or true. If the writing has too many specific details, the writing can get bogged down and become too slow.
Students also continued to work on their drafts or start to revise. The next piece of writing will be a fiction piece, due Friday, January 22. Students should be ready to revise by now.
Math: Students completed a math test today over these ideas:
- Multiplication/division facts
- Number sentences (true/false, open sentences, using parentheses)
- Number stories
- Logic problems
Science: None today due to library. Homework is to finish a Magnet Investigation Review crossword puzzle given to students today in class.
Social Studies: Students practiced their map skills about latitude, longitude and use of elevation maps today.
