Class activities for Wednesday, January 26
Spelling: We reviewed common spelling patterns for the /ü/ and /yü/ sounds, as in the words blue, music, balloon, and huge.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles. Some groups worked on visualizing as a reading strategy.
Writing: Today, we looked at an example of a Choose Your Own Adventure story website (see Underground Railroad). We also noticed that Choose Your Own Adventure stories usually start by describing the main character or the setting of the story.
Our next project is a Choose Your Own Adventure fiction gamebook, due Friday, February 11. Students will publish their adventure as a website at sites.mrhowd.com. Students should be prewriting to plan the characters, settings and action of their adventure stories.
