October 27th, 2011
Class activities for Thursday, October 27
Spelling: We started learning about spelling patterns for the /k/ sound.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 27-29 are available and due Monday.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles.
Writing: We learned that choice adjectives help the reader to answer the question, “What kind?” For example, if a story talks about a car, and adjective can describe what kind of car (red car or fast car).
A personal narrative, slightly fictionalized, is due into portfolios on Friday, November 4. Students should be revising at this time.
Math: We practiced number sequences today by extended patterns and looking for the rule of the pattern. Homework is to finish Journal P2-2.
Science: Students completed an experiment about trying to find the location of magnets hidden in a box, using a compass, iron filings or magnetic objects. Homework is to finish the Detecting Magnets experiment if not done in class.
Social Studies: We learned about competition and how supply and demand affect prices.
