February 25th, 2013
Class activities for Monday, February 25
Spelling: None today due to extra time with writing.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: We practiced reading a script for a class play that we will be performing in March. The play will help students to practice reading with fluency.
Writing: Students continued to draft their persuasive letter by adding survey data as evidence.
Our current writing project is a persusive essay in the form of a letter. Each student will select an issue facing our country and will share their ideas on how to improve the issue. This persuasive letter is due Wednesday, February 27.
Find more information about this project. Here is a planning checklist.
Math: We practiced simplifying fractions by reducing them to the smallest numbers possible. For example, 20/30 can be reduced to 2/3. Homework is to finish Journal P9-2.
Science: None today due our math skills practice time.
Social Studies: We wrote notes about jobs found in different colonial regions. We also played a game to review for Wednesday’s social studies test about colonial regions. A practice test can be found here.
