Class activities for Monday, October 13

Spelling: We learned about how Latin and Greek base words can be used to unlock the hidden meaning of words. For example, the Latin word vocare means to call. English words with this base word usually have something to do with calling out or talking: voice, vocal, invoke, provoke, advocate, vocabulary.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Students completed a STAR Reading test today.

Writing: None today.

We’ll start a new project this week.

Math: We practiced adding decimals today, something we’ve been practicing for a while now.

Here’s some skills we’ve been working on lately:

Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We wrote notes about the digestive system and started to learn about the excretory system.

Social Studies: Students worked in groups to complete a spreadsheet about American Indian Cultural Regions.
