November 7th, 2014
Class activities for Friday, November 7
Spelling: We reviewed the many different rules for spelling base words when suffixes are added onto them.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading skills and AR quiz day.
Writing: We talked about saving the best detail for last in writing. In a fiction story, that might mean having a character try to solve the problem several times, but the last try is the most interesting and finally solves the problem.
Our next piece of writing, a fiction story, is due Friday, November 21. Your student should be about half way finished with their draft by now.
Math: Students worked on multiplication skills using Khan Academy.
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: We learned that traits can be acquired or inherited, they can be learned from the environment or received from birth. Homework is to finish the “Where Did You Get Your Traits?” experiment if not finished in class.
Social Studies: None today due to our math skills practice time.
