As you can see, our class average reading level dropped from 4.4 to 3.9. To try to reverse this trend, we are now working on reading skills practice three days a week, in addition to Literature Circles four days a week. Some students admitted they are not reading at home 20 minutes a night. Everyone said they are going to look for ways to improve. I told the class we can take the STAR test again on Monday to see if being more thoughtful and careful will give them a better result.
Writing: Today was a publishing day. This personal narrative is due Monday, November 9. Your student should be making final revisions and edits, and publishing so that the writing looks nice and is readable.
Math: Students continued to work on practicing pattern skills here:
Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.
Science: We started an experiment about making an electrical circuit with one battery, one wire, and one bulb. Students will finish this experiment next week.
Social Studies: We started to learn about how supply, demand, and competition affect price.
