Class activities for Friday, May 6

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today was a reading skills and AR practice day.

Writing: We talked about using white space in poems by skipping lines sometimes and by not writing words fully across each line of a poem; poems usually write in full ideas, not full lines. We also talked about some poem ideas: write about nature, write a poem for each season, write a poem about an animal and the things that it does.

A collection of poems will be due Friday, May 20.

Math: We worked on comparing fractions today in Khan Academy. Students also received their latest STAR Math score:

As you can see, our class has now beaten both our yearly class goal and our stretch goal for class math level! Some students have even mastered the entire set of 4th grade math before the year is done!

Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.

Science: We learned about difference actions that humans, plants, and animals complete from these four categories:

  • movement
  • growth/reproduction
  • maintenance/repair
  • eliminating waste

Social Studies: We looked for examples of different land and water forms from the US.
