Class activities for Monday, September 12

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, is due on Friday.

Reading: Today was library orientation. We also started planning skits to serve as reminders on how to handle books so that they aren’t damaged.

Writing: We’ll be using digital tools for writing this year. Today, we started setting up those tools by activating Google accounts. The first piece of writing, a personal narrative, will be due on Friday, September 23. Homework is for students to think of a personal memory or special event for their personal narrative.

Math: Students worked on a STAR Math test today. Also, here was today’s math warmup. Can you solve it?

Science: Students received science books and science notebooks today. I ask students to bring at least one pen to use in class for science. It would be best if students had at least two pens of different colors, at least one in a darker color (blue or black).

Social Studies: We set up our digital social studies accounts today. Students can get to their online social studies book at go.mrhowd.com/ss.

Notes:

  • School Supply list
  • Students will need a pair of earbuds this year. Something inexpensive will be fine. Earbuds are preferred over large headphones that are hard to store and usually more expensive to replace.
  • Check out our class calendar to stay up-to-date.
  • View grades, assignments, and attendance at JupiterGrades.

Our Mission:
All students in Room 130 will do their best and get ready for 6th grade.
