November 18th, 2010
Class activities for Wednesday, November 17 and Wednesday, November 18
Spelling: We talked about “ditching” words that are unnecessary in sentences:
- Move backward, not…Move backwards.
- Until then, I was fine. Not…Up until then, I was fine.
- I don’t know whether I’ll eat yogurt or pancakes, not…if I’ll eat or whether or not I’ll eat.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: The class finished their Literature Circles books this week. Students will next be creating projects to share their books with the class.
Writing: We talked about not combining multiple sentences into one chunk of run-on sentences. Putting periods in between, and taking out connecting words helps to make individual sentences.
Our next piece of writing, a fiction piece, is due Monday, November 29. Students should be revising at this time.
Math: We have been working on drawing and measuring angles using a protractor.
Science: We reviewed inherited traits and started to learning about learned traits that aren’t acquired from parents.
Social Studies: We will be having a test over European Explorers soon. Here’s an online study guide.
