Class activities for Thursday, January 26
Spelling: Students worked on finishing their Words to Learn lists from the words they missed on the last spelling test.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 63-65 are available and due Friday.
Reading: Students read plays to practice reading with fluency using correct speed, tone and volume.
Writing:We learned about using fresh language by writing words and sentences in new and different ways, instead of just using the same words over and over.
Students also continued to work on the draft of their next writing piece, a Choose Your Own Adventure fiction gamebook. Students will write a fiction adventure story with choices that the reader can make. Each choice can change how the story turns out. The project is due Monday, February 6. Students will publish their adventure as a website at sites.mrhowd.com. Students should be drafting their adventure story at this time. See below for more details.

Math: We practiced multiplying by 10 and 100. Homework is Journal P5-1.
Science: Students practiced measuring the mass of objects using a balance and some known gram masses. We learned that mass is a measure of how much matter is in an object. It does not change with gravity. Homework is to finish the Using Balances activity if not done in class.
