Meet Mr. Howd

It all began in 1977…okay, I’ll skip to the good stuff. I went to Genesee Schools in Genesee, Michigan for most of my life, and graduated Valedictorian in 1995. I attended the University of Michigan-Flint, and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Chemistry.

I graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in elementary education, with a general science major, and minors in language arts and math. I also have a Master’s of Science degree in Educational Technology from Walden University and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Technology from the University of Missouri in 2012.

mrhowd board.jpgMy first class was a third grade position at Haas Elementary School in the Genesee School District. In 2002, I took a 6th and 7th grade math and science position at Grand Blanc Middle School. In 2003, I transferred to McGrath to teach 4th grade. In 2012, I became a looping teacher, alternating between 4th and 5th grades.

In 2020, I became the McGrath TechEx teacher! I’ve also taught summer technology classes with Grand Blanc Parks and Rec for about 10 years. Check me out on ABC12!

Outside of school, I love to read, hike, camp, garden, check out the latest gadgets, spend time with my family and serve in my church, Mt. Morris Community Church. I am a deacon and the Junior Church leader. In 2008, I married Janae, who is also a teacher. We have two girls, Chloe and Josie.
