Class activities for Thursday, April 5

Spelling: None today due to a planned project. We will have a spelling test when we return. The unit 9 spelling worksheets are available here.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each were collected today.  

Reading: We had paper (Time for Kids) and coffee (Hawaiian Punch).

Writing: None due to the half-day schedule. Students are continuing to research their “I-search” project topics. It might be a good idea to visit McFarlen or Baker Park Library and look for more books, and use the computers, too, to find more information about the selected topic. This project will be due on April 27, but will likely be presented on April 30 via PowerPoint.

Math: None today due to the half-day schedule.

Science: None today due to the half-day schedule. Kid’s Inquiry Conference applications have been passed out and are due on April 18. Kid’s Inquiry Conference will be April 27 at the University of Michigan-Flint.

Social Studies: We will have a test over the French and British in Michigan when we return. Students learned about and polished petosky stones today. Ask your student to show you their petosky stone!

Spelling: We reviewed irregular verbs and their base words (am/was, bring/brought, eat/ate). This will be the skill on tomorrow’s spelling test. The unit 9 spelling worksheets are available here.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. We also went to the library and students checked out informational books for their “I-search” project.

Spelling: Students worked on their unit 9 spelling worksheets today. The worksheets are available here.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due Friday. 

Reading: We worked on identifying different genres today by previewing new library books and deciding where they fit in our library.

Writing: Students researched their “I-search” project topics on the Internet. It might be a good idea to visit McFarlen or Baker Park Library and look for more books, and use the computers, too, to find more information about the selected topic. This project will be due on April 27, but will likely be presented on April 30 via PowerPoint.

Math: Students learned a new way to divide called the “partial quotients method.”

Science: None today due to the half-day schedule.

Social Studies: Students shared their Literature Circles responses for Pontiac’s Rebellion and had a discussion. Homework is to finish worksheet pp. 10 and 12. A test over the French and British in Michigan will be on Thursday.

It might be a good idea to visit McFarlen or Baker Park Library and look for more books, and use the computers while they’re at it, to find more information about the selected topic. This project will be due on April 27, but will likely be presented on April 30 via PowerPoint.
