Class activities for Monday, May 14
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words are due each Friday.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. Some groups worked on connections.
Writing: None due to technology. In technology, students are typing their Take a Stand persuasive writing pieces and emailing them to the editor at the Flint Journal.
Math: Students used fraction cards to located and name equivalent fractions (1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6). Homework is to finish Journal pp. 357-357.
Science: We took notes in our minibook about how the earth moves (365 days for one revolution around the sun, 24 hours for one rotation) and how the moon moves (about one month to rotate and revolve around the earth).
We also began the Space Fashion Show project (click here for more information). Students are working in groups to write a fashion show script and design a costume that tells the class about the sun, moon or earth. Students will work this week in class on their scripts. Work on the costume will need to be done at home. The Space Fashion Show will be on Friday at 2:00 and will be equal to a test grade.
Social Studies: We learned about what it would have been like to live as a pioneer in a Michigan forest.
