Final Day of School 2007

We’ve had a busy and fun schedule the last couple days of school, including rollerskating at Rollhaven, our potluck picnic today, and an afternoon of crazy games! We had no shortage of fun passing bananas over our heads, hopping with grapefruits between our knees, licking up whipped cream, sucking pudding through straws, throwing wet sponges and piling up shaving cream all over everybody!

It’s been a great year and everyone has worked very hard! Enjoy the summer! Below is a little movie to remember our year together:

Class activities for Tuesday, June 12

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Spelling: None today. There will be no more spelling activities for this year.

Cursive: There will be no more cursive activites for this year.

Reading: None today.    

Writing: Students continued to type their article for our class newspaper.

Math: Students completed a subtraction and multiplication timed test today, and reviewed perimeter and area.

Science: Students completed a water cycle MiniQuiz today. We also discussed ways to use positive peer pressure to stay away from poor choices. 

Social Studies: None today.

Notes:

Class activities for Monday, June 11

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Spelling: None today. There will be no more spelling activities for this year.

Cursive: There will be no more cursive activites for this year.

Reading: Students worked on their Literature Circles projects. We also took our last STAR reading test of the year. The class improved their reading level to 4.94. We started the year at 3.98, so the class worked hard to improve their reading level by almost an entire year this year.      

Writing: Students started to type their article for our class newspaper.

Math: We took an addition timed test today.

Science: We discussed ways to say no to drugs and mean it.

Social Studies: None today.

Class activities for Friday, June 8

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Today was field day! Kids melted in the heat playing relay races, kickball, crab soccer, tug-of-war, and “Steal the Bacon.” In the afternoon, students tried their hands at the dunk tank, inflatible slide, football punting, baseball pitching or four-square.

After field day, we had a Cursive quiz and a Math MiniQuiz; the final grades of the year.

Students also volunteered to bring dishes to pass at our Potluck Picnic next Thursday, June 14, at 1:00 pm. Here is a list of what students volunteered for.

Class activities for Thursday, June 7

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

Spelling: None today. There will be no more spelling activities for this year.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words are due each Friday.

Reading: Students selected and practiced reading poems that they shared at Borders today.    

Writing: Students worked on their class newspaper articles, which are due into portfolios tomorrow, June 8.

We also visited Borders Book Store today for our Poetry Slam. Each student shared two or more poems, and we had quite a good crowd in the cafe! 

Math: None today due to the Borders Poetry Slam.

Science: None today due to attending the 5th grade McGrath Idol performance.

Social Studies: None today due to the Borders Poetry Slam.
