Class activities for Friday, October 5
Spelling: Students made their Words to Learn list by correcting words they missed on yesterday’s spelling test. Their Words to Learn list is their spelling list to study for the next test.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 23-25 were reviewed today.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. We shared our illustrations from Esperanza Rising.
Writing: Today was a work day; students continued working on their rough draft. The next piece of writing, a personal memory or story, is due on October 12.
Math: Today was a MiniQuiz and Math Skills. We also learned the names of three-dimensional figures, including cone, pyramid, cylinder, sphere, cube and various prisms. Homework is to finish the 3-D figures worksheet.
Science: We reviewed the Getting Directions experiment and learned that a compass is really just a magnet that is allowed to swing freely so it can point in a north-south direction.
Social Studies: None on Fridays.
- Yellow magnets: 2
- Orange magnets: 1
- Red magnets: 0
