Class activities for Monday, October 29
Spelling: None today due to getting new seats. A spelling test over Unit 2 will be Thursday.
Cursive: Cursive pages 32-34 are available and due Friday.
Reading: None today due to technology.
Writing: Students saw that using interesting, specific verbs to describe action helps the reader to picture the writing. Today was the last planned revising day. Students should be nearing the end of revising or starting to edit. Some students are behind schedule; ask your student to show you what they’ve done so far. The next piece of writing, a personal narrative, is due on November 2. This will be the final writing grade of the marking period.
Math: We used boxes of raisins to make a class tally chart and then we found out the data landmarks of maximum, minimum, range and mode. Homework is to finish Journal pp. 35-36.
Science: Students tested various circuits to see which arrangements of battery, bulb and wires would light the bulb. Homework is to complete the Repair Manual worksheet, describing what was wrong with the circuits that didn’t light.
Social Studies: We took notes in our minibooks today about the Southwest.
