Class activities for Friday, May 2
Spelling: We practiced changing words into other words, noticing how the spelling changed.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of at least seven words each are due Friday.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.
Writing: Today we learned that a metaphor can be used to compare two things and create imagery (school is a pinball game, my house is a jungle, my heart is a river).
A collection of poems will be due into portfolios on Friday, May 16. The poems will be shared at a Poetry Slam at Border’s Book Store in June.
Math: Students took part in Math Skills today.
Science: We learned about some of the features of the moon:
- Is a gray rocky ball;
- Has mountains, valleys and plains;
- Has bowl-shaped craters
Social Studies: None on Fridays.
