Spelling: None today due to our I-Search Conference presentations.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: None today due to our I-Search Conference presentations.

Writing: Today was the I-Search Conference. Everyone did well, kept the attention of the audience, dressed for success, and received compliments from the guests that attended!

Math: None today due to STAR Friday.

Science: None today due to our I-Search Conference presentations.

Social Studies: None today due to our I-Search Conference presentations.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles. Some groups work on making connections as a reading strategy.

Writing: Students worked on finalizing their digital presentation for their I-Search project. Research will be presented at our I-Search Conference on Friday, April 29, from 10-11:10 am. Homework is to finish their digital presentation and to wear something nice/business casual to school for the presentation on Friday.

Math: We reviewed adding and subtracting fractions using a common denominator.

Science: None today due to art.

Social Studies: None today due to library.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles. Some groups work on questioning as a reading strategy.

Writing: Students worked on creating a digital presentation of their research for their I-Search project. Students will research a topic and create a digital presentation using Google Docs (docs.mrhowd.com).

  1. Week 1: Collect research
  2. Week 2: Select research, plan presentation, start draft of presentation
  3. Week 3: Finalize presentation, present at our I-Search Conference on Friday, April 29

Math: None today due to extra time with Social Studies.

Science: We reviewed the experiment about interpreting motion graphs.

Social Studies: Students explored what life would have been like in Colonial Williamsburg by learning about the school, church, tavern, slave quarters, shoe shop and governor’s palace.

Spelling: We reviewed common /ul/ spelling patterns by spelling various animal names (cattle, eagle, camel).

Reading: Students received new Literature Circles books today.

Writing: Students worked on their I-Search project by collecting research and working on their digital presentations.

Writing: Students worked on their I-Search project by collecting research and working on their digital presentations.

  1. Week 1: Collect research
  2. Week 2: Select research, plan presentation, start draft of presentation
  3. Week 3: Finalize presentation, present at our I-Search Conference at the end of April

Math: We practiced adding and subtracting fractions using slide rules, clocks and by finding common denominators. Homework is to finish Journal pp. 201-203.

Science: Students continued to use clues to interpret motion line graphs. Homework is to finish the analysis on pp. 14-15.

Social Studies: None today due to library.
