Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: We reviewed the idea that poems have three main “ingredients:” imagery, music or emotion.

Students also worked on their collection of poems, which will be due into portfolios on Monday, May 23.

Math: None on Fridays.

Science: None today due to technology.

Social Studies: None today due to technology.

Writing: We started a new unit on poetry today. A collection of poems will be due into portfolios on Monday, May 23.

Math: None today due to our Jet Toy Challenge project in science.

Science: Students continued to work on their Jet Toy Challenge project.

Social Studies: We reviewed what life was like in colonial America.

Math: We reviewed comparing and making equivalent fractions today. Homework is to finish Journal pp. 251-253 (these pages are in Journal 2).

Science: We learned about Newton’s laws of motion, how inertia explains how objects tend to stay resting or stay moving, that friction slows objects down, and how balanced forces are needed for constant motion.

Social Studies: None today.

Science: We learned that both speed and mass affect the force of a collision.

Social Studies: Students finished learning about the town life of Colonial Williamsburg. Homework is to read Section 9.2 and finish Notebook p. 52.
