Spelling: We reviewed common spelling patterns for the long i sound: i, i-consonant-e, igh, ind, y, and i (at the end of a syllable).
Cursive: Cursive pp. 24-26 are available and due Monday.
Reading: Today was the final day for groups to work on creating projects to share their Literature Circles books with the class.
Writing: We talked about using specific, interesting words when writing.
Students also started prewriting for their next piece of writing. A personal narrative, slightly fictionalized, is due into portfolios on Friday, November 4. Students should be prewriting at this time.
Math: We reviewed special quotients, such as dividing by 1, 0, or the same number as the dividend. Homework is to finish Journal R1-8 if not done in class.
Science: Students completed an experiment to test if the force of a magnet can go through different materials, such as paper, plastic, glass or steel. Homework is to finish the Pulling Through experiment if not done in class.
Social Studies: We acted out a simulation to show how business can sell goods to customers for money, and workers sell their time and work to businesses for money.
