April 17th, 2012
Class activities for Tuesday, April 17
Spelling: None today due to our math skills time.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Several students performed monologues for the class to practice reading with speed, tone and volume.
Writing: Students continued to work on the next writing piece, the I-Search research project today, by working on a digital presentation using Google Docs to share their research findings with the school.
We also talked about how it is important to use a natural voice in the presentation, like someone talking, rather than sounding like a stuffy book or website.
This informational project will be due Friday, April 27 when students present at our I-Search Conference. Students should be working on their presentations now.
Math: We reviewed for tomorrow’s math test about division. There is a practice test on math book p. 253 that would be a good study guide for the test. Here’s a Khan Academy division skill that would also be helpful in practicing.
Science: Students continued to work on their Space Fashion Show scripts. Here is more about this project, including a sample fashion show script. The Space Fashion Show will be on Friday at 10am in the small gym.
Social Studies: Students worked in groups to see how the Midwest region is similar to and different from other regions.
