Class activities for Monday, April 30
Spelling: We reviewed compound words today. This will be the skill tested on tomorrow’s spelling test.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles; some groups worked on making questions and connections as reading strategies.
Writing: Students completed a building writing test today.
Math: We reviewed equivalent fractions and comparing fractions today. Students also practiced comparing three fractions to put them in order. Homework is to finish Journal P11-7.
Science: None today due to extra time with writing.
Social Studies: We started to read a book about the Great Migration of African American farm workers to northern factories in the 1900s. We talked about factors that pushed them away from their homes and what pulled them to their new homes.
