Class activities for Wednesday, May 16

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Two groups performed their Literature Circles plays today.

Writing: We talked about using whitespace in poems to put only certain words on each line. This will allow the reader to see just the ideas that the poet wants the reader to see. A collection of poems will be due into portfolios on Monday, May 21.

Math: We practiced subtracting mixed numbers. Homework is to finish Journal P12-9. Here is the Khan Academy skill for adding and subtracting mixed numbers.

Science: Students started planning experiments that would test what plants need to survive. We will be testing if plants need these things:

  • Salt or fresh water
  • Water
  • Air
  • Light
  • Soil
  • Heat

Social Studies: None today due to our reading and math skills time.

Behavior Update:

  • Yellow magnets: 1
  • Orange magnets: 0
  • Red magnets: 0
