Class activities for Thursday, November 15

Spelling: None today due to the half day schedule.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: Several students read their monologue to the class, focusing on speed, tone, volume, and accuracy when they were reading aloud.

Writing: We talked about different types of leads that a writer could use to begin a story:

  • A talking lead would begin with dialogue.
  • A visual lead would begin with describing what a character, place or object looked like.
  • An action lead would start with the character doing something.

The next piece of writing, a fiction story, will be due on Monday, November 26. Students should be finished with their draft and revising by now.

Math: Students practiced dividing multiples of 10 and 100. Homework is to finish Journal P4-1.
