Class activities for Friday, March 22

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: We rehearsed our class play today.

Writing: Students worked on drafting for their fiction novel project today. The novel is due Tuesday, March 26. Each student has their own word count goal to reach during this project. See this previous post for more details. See the chart to the right to see how the class is progressing toward 100% completion of each word count goal.

Math: None today due to STAR Friday.

Science: We reviewed our past test about life science.

Social Studies: Students completed a test about slavery.

Spelling: Students completed a preview of upcoming spelling words.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: We rehearsed our class play today.

Writing: Students worked on drafting for their fiction novel project today. The novel is due Tuesday, March 26. Math: We practiced estimating sums and differences of mixed numbers.  Homework is to finish Journal P10-2.

Science: Students conducted the experiments that they designed yesterday.  Homework is to finish analysis questions 5-8 on p. 41 that were started in class.

Social Studies: None today due to extra time with science. Students will take a test tomorrow about slavery. A practice test can be found here.

Math: We reviewed converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions. Homework is to finish Journal P10-1

Science: Students designed their own experiment about catching. Homework is to finish writing their experimental procedure and to bring any materials needed for the experiment.

Social Studies: We played a game to review for Friday’s test about slavery. A practice test can be found here.

Math: We played a game to review for tomorrow’s test about adding and subtracting fractions. There is a Topic 9 practice test in the math book that could be used as a study guide.

Science: The class completed an experiment about testing human variation with catching one handed and two handed. Homework is to finish the analysis questions on p. 38.

Social Studies: We learned about the activities that slaves took part in (singing, storytelling, faith) to give them hope. Homework is to finish notebook p. 49.
