Class activities for Tuesday, April 30
Spelling: Students completed a spelling and skill test today.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: We used our Literature Circles time to read and write notes about social studies.
Writing: We started a unit on poetry by reading from Hate that Cat by Sharon Creech.
Math: We practiced estimating products of fractions. Homework is to finish Journal P11-3.
Science: We learned about Newton’s second and third laws of motion, involving the equation, force = mass x acceleration (f=ma), and also that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. We also learned that balanced forces keep at object at rest or moving steadily, but balanced forces can speed up or slow down an object. Homework is to finish the analysis questions on p. 36.
Social Studies: We learned about the Proclamation of 1763 (colonists can’t cross the Appalachian Mountains) and the Quartering Act (colonists have to house and feed soldiers). Homework is to finish notebook p. 56.
