Class activities for Thursday, January 22
Spelling: Students made Words to Learn lists from words missed on the last spelling test.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.
Reading: Students planned their new Literature Circles book reading days today.
Writing: We discussed the main ingredients of a literary essay:
- Introduction with a summary and the book’s theme.
- Three examples from the book that show the theme.
- A conclusion with the theme and what the writer learned.
We started writing a literary essay together.
A literary essay will be due Friday, February 6.
Math: We started to practiced dividing by tens. Here are some division skills we’ve been working on lately:
Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: We reviewed the human variation experiment completed yesterday.
Social Studies: We started learning about a conflict between the English settlers and the American Indians.
