October 22nd, 2015
Class activities for Thursday, October 22
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 13-15 are available and due on Friday.
Reading: Today was the second-half of our Literature Circles reading day started yesterday. Students worked on thinking of questions and connections, visualizing the story, and finding important passages.
Writing: We talked about using precise nouns in writing. A writer should be specific and say what they mean. Don’t just write “car,” write “red Chevrolet Malibu.” Don’t just say, “ride,” say “Top Thrill Dragster.”
Students also started drafting their narrative today. This personal narrative is due Friday, November 6. Your student should be starting to draft their story.
Math: We used MobyMax Fact Master and Khan Academy to practice math skills today.
Here’s a skill we’ve been working on lately (and some students are struggling with) that your student could work on at home:
Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.
Science: None today.
Social Studies: Students worked on a chart to predict how consumer demand would affect what businesses make. Homework if to finish the prediction chart if not done in class. Students also completed a MiniQuiz about the features of a market economy. You can see your student’s grade in ParentVue or StudentVue.
