Class activities for Tuesday, October 23

Spelling: Students made Words to Learn lists by correcting words missed on the last spelling test. This will be your student’s spelling list for the next test.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today was a reading and discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: We talked about the three most important ingredients for any story:

  1. Characters: all stories have characters. Authors give visual details about the important characters.
  2. Places: all stories have places and settings. Authors give visual details about the important places.
  3. Plot: all stories have action and a point. Many have a problem that the characters need to solve.

The next piece of writing, a fictionalized personal narrative, will be due on Friday, November 2. Students should be working on their drafts at this point.

Math: We reviewed multiplication properties today. Homework is to finish Journal P3-1.

Science: We wrote notes about the circulatory system.

Social Studies: None today due to our reading and math skills time.
