Class activities for Tuesday, October 23
Spelling: Students made Words to Learn lists by correcting words missed on the last spelling test. This will be your student’s spelling list for the next test.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading and discussion day in Literature Circles.
Writing: We talked about the three most important ingredients for any story:
- Characters: all stories have characters. Authors give visual details about the important characters.
- Places: all stories have places and settings. Authors give visual details about the important places.
- Plot: all stories have action and a point. Many have a problem that the characters need to solve.
The next piece of writing, a fictionalized personal narrative, will be due on Friday, November 2. Students should be working on their drafts at this point.
Math: We reviewed multiplication properties today. Homework is to finish Journal P3-1.
Science: We wrote notes about the circulatory system.
Social Studies: None today due to our reading and math skills time.
