Class activities for Friday, December 7
Spelling: None today due to extra time with spelling yesterday.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Students completed an informational reading test today.
Writing: We talked about inventing or researching specific details to fill in gaps in writing. Specific names and places help the writing to feel more realistic.
The next piece of writing, a fiction piece, is due Friday, December 14. Students should be revising at this point.
Math: None today due to STAR Friday.
Science: We learned about acquired and inherited traits. Acquired traits are learned or happen after birth, such as piercing ears or learning to smile a lot. Inherited traits are genetic and come from parents, such as attached earlobes or having dimples.
Social Studies: We learned about different explorers that came to the New World. Homework is to finish the notes started in class about each group’s assigned explorer.
