S..t..a..r..t…..T..y..p..i..n..g FASTER!

Typing is like anything else, it takes practice! Here’s a couple of ideas to give your fingers a workout! Just make sure you are keeping all those fingers on the keyboard!

  1. Download Tux Typing 2. This is a free typing tutor program for kids! It has modes for practicing finger placement, word exercises, short words and long words. Download it here for Windows, or visit the website to check on the lastest version. Once downloaded, the game can be played even when not connected to the Internet.
  2. Go online to DanceMat Typing. This is an online typing tutor, with nothing to download. But you do have to be online to use it. This is the best program to help with teaching finger placement on the keyboard.
  3. Go online to Super Hyper Typing Spider. Practice getting faster typing letters and words!

Read-a-thon this Friday!

Dear Parent(s),
 

          In honor of Reading Month, the fourth graders will be participating in a read-a-thon!  On Friday, March 30, the students will read diligently to raise money for their trip to Mackinaw Island.  Your student has been given a tracking sheet and envelope to hold donations.  Students may begin collecting donations today!  All donations are due by Friday and will go directly towards the cost of your child’s trip.  If you have any questions or concerns please let us know.

Get Your Writing Published!

Want to have your writing published in a book? Here’s your chance. You can submit a short story, up to 1,500 words in length, to be published in the Anthology of Short Stories by Young Americans. The deadline has been extended to March 31, 2007.

Magic Show (nothing up my sleeve!)

McGrath Elementary is hosting a magic show on Friday, March 23, with shows at 6:45 and 8:15 pm. Tickets are $4.00. All proceeds to benefit McGrath Student Council and the American Cancer Society. More details can be found here.

Feb Factor

Feb Factor logo.jpgOur Valentine’s Party, Feb Factor, is coming on Wednesday, February 14! Here are the details:

  • 2:00 | Exchange Valentine’s Cards
  • 2:30 | Eat
  • 3:00 | Games

A class list to help in making Valentine’s has been sent home with students. Also, we will be creating bags for the Valentine’s on the day of the party.

We’ll need a few parents to help with set-up (starting at 2:00), serving, food donations, clean-up and games. If you would like to help, just email me or print this out and return!
