Class activities for Tuesday, May 29

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: No new cursive assignments for the remainder of the year.

Reading: None today due to the Snow White play.

Writing: Students worked on the Find It, Decide It project to research a decision. Here is more about this project, due Friday, June 1.

Math: Homework is to complete Journal pages P13-7 and R13-6.

Science: We learned that plants, animals and humans use energy and materials for these things:

  • growth
  • reproduction
  • movement
  • waste
  • maintenance and repair

Social Studies: We talked more about how a republic votes for representatives, a constitution is a plan for government, and that even the government should follow the laws.

Math: Students practiced math skills using Khan Academy.

Science: We learned that plants and animals both need these things:

  • water
  • heat
  • air

Plants also need light to live.

Social Studies: We talked about how a republic votes for representatives, a constitution is a plan for government, and that even the government should follow the laws.

Writing: Students worked on the Find It, Decide It project to research a decision. Here is more about this project, due Friday, June 1.

Math: Students practiced changing fractions into decimals. Homework is to finish Journal P13-6.

Science: We did an experiment to learn that even organisms of the same kind have differences. Homework is to finish the bar graph of human traits started in class.

Social Studies: Students planned a government for a group of people stranded on an island. Homework is to finish the Designing a Government page.

Reading: Groups completed their Literature Circles plays today.

Writing: Students worked on the Find It, Decide It project to research a decision. Here is more about this project, due Friday, June 1.

Math: Students learned about how to change fractions into decimals. Homework is to finish Journal P13-4 and P13-5.

Science: None today due to a play called, Shipwrecked!

Social Studies: We viewed a play set in the 1800s in Thunder Bay. A family was shipwrecked while bring a load of Christmas trees from the Upper Peninsula.

Writing: Students worked on the Find It, Decide It project to research a decision. Here is more about this project, due Friday, June 1.

Math: Students practiced multiplying fractions by whole numbers. Homework is to finish Journal P13-2 and P13-3.

Science: We played a game to simulate a food chain. Water fleas were eaten by sunfish, and the sunfish were eaten by herons. Each time, the energy of the prey went to the predator. Sometimes, toxins moved up the food chain and killed the host. Students also completed a MiniQuiz about food chains.

Social Studies: None today due to our math skills time.
