Class activities for Monday, October 25
Spelling: Students made their Words to Learn lists from words they missed on the last spelling test. This is your student’s customized spelling list for the next test.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. Students completed an informational reading test today.
Writing: We talked about how authors can create a scene in their writing using these elements:
- Description of setting or characters;
- Dialogue;
- Character action; and,
- Saving the end for the end.
Students also worked on their drafts today.
A slightly fictionalized personal narrative is due Friday, November 5. Students should be drafting at this time.
Math: None today due to working on our courtyard garden. Students cleared out one box and we planted winter wheat.
Science: We completed an experiment to learn about our muscular system. Homework is to complete the Those Aching Muscles experiment.
Social Studies: We learned about the Plains Indians today.
