Class activities for Monday, October 30
Spelling: Students received their spelling tests and corrected their missed words on a Words To Learn list. This is their new spelling list for the next test. The Unit 3 spelling packet was also made available today.
Cursive: Cursive worksheets pp. 30-32 were made available this week and are due on Friday.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. We also had silent reading WEB.
Writing: None today due to technology.
Math: We reviewed the data landmarks of minimum, maximum, range (the difference between minimum and maximum), and mode (the number that occurs most often), and learned a new landmark called the median (the middle number is a set of data). Homework is to complete Math Boxes 2.6.
Science: Students shared their electricity posters created last week.
Social Studies: We learned about the Western natural resouces of gold and timber.
Behavior Update:
- Yellows: five magnets
- Oranges: one magnet
- Reds: none
Ask your student what kind of choices they made.
Notes:
- Hawaiian Beach Bash tomorrow! That’s our Halloween party on October 31 from 2-4 pm. The menu: Hawaiian pizza, fruit kabobs, and punch. Please feel from to come; we could use the help with set-up and tear-down.
- Appointments are now being made for fall conferences, November 14-16. A sign-up sheet is located at the office windows.
- We are looking for donations of cardboard tubes (toilet tissue, paper towel, wrapping paper) for class projects. The tubes can be sent in any time during the year; this project will be on-going. Thanks for any help you can give!
