Class activities for Monday, December 18
Spelling: Today students worked on their unit 5 spelling worksheets. Visit the spelling page to download a copy.
Cursive: Cursive worksheets pp. 51-53 are available and due on Thursday.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. Students have finished their books and will soon begin planning a group project to share their book with the class.
Writing: Today was a work day in Writer’s Workshop. Students should be finishing revising or editing at this time. The next piece of writing, some type of narrative (personal or fiction), is due December 22.
Math: Groups of students either worked on logic problems or reviewed number sentences from Friday’s MiniQuiz. Homework is to finish journal pp. 73, 74, 75 and 77. Students working with me today complete pp. 74 and 77.
Science: We began a project today called “Wicked Weather.” Student groups will create a melodrama about severe weather and safety precautions. Get the worksheets here.
Social Studies: Students read about Michigan’s climate and weather, starting on p. 24, and started working on a reading strategy called, “newsflash.” This strategy involves reading a section and then writing a sentence to tell what the reading was about, using 15 words or less. Homework is to finish the newsflash worksheet.
