January 23rd, 2007
Cursive: None today due to new seats.
Reading: We continued practicing reading our pictures books with fluency and expression, while seven more students read to Children’s Garden students. This project will wrap up this week.
Writing: We learned about using details, senses, voice, even questions, to make a lead (beginning) lively and interesting. Students also began prewriting for their next piece, due February 9. Students received an order form for our class book today. Orders are due next Monday, January 29.
Math: Today we reviewed adding and subtracting money. Homework is to complete StudyLink 4.5 and Math Boxes 4.5.
Social Studies: We finished learning about the first people of Michigan: the Paleo-Indians, the Old Copper People, the Mound Builders (or Hopewell). Homework is to finish the Fact or Fiction quiz.
