Spelling: Students prepared their Words to Learn lists by correcting words missed on the recent spelling test. The unit 10 worksheets were also collected. The unit 11 worksheets are available here.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words are due each Friday.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. Some groups worked on synthesizing and chunking unknown words.
Writing: Students continued writing for our class newspaper project about our fourth grade year, focusing on making progress on their rough drafts.
Math: None today due to Author’s Day.
Science: We learned about the size, features and importance of the sun. Homework is to complete Investigation Review p. 43.
Social Studies: None due to Author’s Day.
Author’s Day: All students shared a favorite piece of writing from their portfolios. Then we played Make-a-Story, 30-second squirt style. Students were give a random character, action and setting by the class, and had to tell a story on the spot without saying “um,” “er,” or stopping for more than five seconds! Our grand finale was a super story told by four students and their parents! Thanks family members for joining our class for Author’s Day!
