Class activities for Wednesday, September 19

Spelling: We reviewed the long o sound by finding antonyms (opposite) and synonyms (similar) for various words. Students have the Unit 1 spelling worksheets (download here), which will be due at the time of the spelling test. Find more information, including spelling lists, by clicking on the Spelling link.

Cursive: Cursive pp. 19-20 are available and due Friday.

Reading: We practiced making connections by reading two stories and finding how they were alike.

Writing: Students practiced writing using a prompt about honesty. We will also write another piece this week using a prompt, and students will choose which piece they would like to turn in for a grade.

Math: We reviewed rays, lines and line segments. Homework is to complete Math Boxes 1.3.

Science: Students completed a science experiment to test how the ends of a magnet interact with each other. Homework is to complete the A Magnet’s Ends activity record, including the analyze and conclude questions.

Social Studies: We talked about the WordSplash homework assignment, then started learning about the long growing season of the Southeast.
