Class activities for Wednesday, September 17
Spelling: We learned common spelling patterns for the short o sound (al, au, aw, o). We’ll have a spelling test on Monday; the spelling worksheets will be due at that time.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 18-20 are available and due Friday.
Reading: Today we practiced having a discussion day in Literature Circles; everyone practiced reading and answering questions from yesterday.
Writing: None today; we’ll have extra time for Writer’s Workshop tomorrow.
The first piece of writing, a personal narrative, will be due Friday, September 26. Your student should be drafting by now.
Math: We reviewed quadrangles and parallelograms today. Homework is to complete Journal pp. 8-9.
Science: None today due to Constitution Day activities. We watched some SchoolHouse Rock video clips about why are country doesn’t have kings, how we started the Revolution, and the Preamble to the Constitution.
We remembered how important the Constitution is by learning and singing the Preamble to the Constitution:
We the people
In order to form a more perfect union,
Establish justice, insure domestic tranquility,
Provide for the common defense,
Promote the general welfare and
Secure the blessings of liberty
To ourselves and our posterity
Do ordain and establish this Constitution
For the United States of America.
