Class activities for Thursday, November 4
Spelling: We reviewed silent letters and the rule for changing plural words that end with an f (change the f to v as in knives, lives or scarves).
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Cirlces. Some groups worked on inferring as a reading strategy.
Writing: We discussed adding inner story details to a scene in a piece of writing. Inner story includes thoughts, feelings and character action that reveals thoughts or feelings.
A slightly fictionalized personal narrative is due Monday, November 8. Students should be editing or publishing at this time.
Math: Students worked on a math test over these ideas:
- Addition, subtraction and multiplication of whole numbers and decimals;
- Rounding;
- Estimating products;
- Place value; and,
- Solving number stories.
Science: We reviewed the skeletal and muscular systems and wrote notes in our minibooks. Homework is to finish the Beautiful Brain review page about the nervous system.
Social Studies: None today due to an extra time with Social Studies yesterday.
