Class activities for Friday, November 12
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles.
Writing: Today was a work day in writing. Our next piece of writing, a fiction piece, is due Monday, November 29. Students should be drafting at this time.
Math: None today due to STAR Friday.
Science: None today.
Social Studies: Students learned about some changes that happened in Europe in the 1400s and 1500s that affected the exploration of the New World:
- Spain was reconquered from Muslim control and put under Christian rule;
- Spain financed Christopher Columbus’ trip to the New World;
- Martin Luther started the Reformation of the Catholic Church and religious wars ensued;
- Protestant and Catholic countries warred against each other and tried to create state religions.
Homework is to complete Reading Further 4 in the Social Studies notebook.
