Class activities for Friday, February 4
Spelling: We continued to review homophones today.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles.
Writing: We talked about making short, simple sentences more complex and interesting. One way to do this is to combine shorter sentences into longer ones.
Students continued to work on their Choose Your Own Adventure fiction gamebook, due Friday, February 11. Students will publish their adventure as a website at sites.mrhowd.com. Students should be drafting at this time.

- Look at an Underground Railroad Choose Your Own Adventure website.
- Look through the Underground Railroad Interactive History Adventure book (hint: search for “the end” to see some of the endings of the book).
- Look at some examples of different kinds of endings in a Choose Your Own Adventure Story.
- View the titles of all the Choose Your Own Adventure books to get adventure topic ideas.
- Play Zork, a text-based computer game. Here is a list of commands and directions. Here is a map of the dungeon if you get stuck or lost.
- Find a complete list of resources here.
Math: We reviewed dividing and reporting the remainders and fractions and decimals. There will be a math test over these ideas on Monday:
- Mental math division;
- Division using any method;
- Decimal division problems; and,
- Interpreting the remainder of division problems.
Science: None today.
Social Studies: None today.

- Today was our Candlemas Day party. February 2, Dia de la Candelaria, is traditionally the end of the holiday season in Mexico. Our party today was hosted by Skylir, Nancy, Sara and Dylan. They provided drinks, muffins, fruit kabobs and games! Thanks party planners!
