Class activities for Monday, April 11
Spelling: Today was a preview of upcoming spelling words.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences of seven or more words each are due on Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles.
Writing: Students worked on collected research for their I-Search project. Students will research a topic and create a digital presentation using Google Docs (docs.mrhowd.com).
Here are more details about the I-Search project. Our general timeline :
- Week 1: Collect research
- Week 2: Select research, plan presentation, start draft of presentation
- Week 3: Finalize presentation, present at our I-Search Conference at the end of April
Math: Students completed a math test today.
Science: Groups of students completed an experiment to measure the speed of a model cart. Homework is to finish calculating the speed and average speed of the cart, if not completed in class.
Social Studies: We learned about how slaves told stories about their family history, sang songs and worshiped in church to keep their hope alive.
