Class activities for Wednesday, September 14
Spelling: None today due to an antibullying assembly.
You can view or download the yearly spelling list here.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 12-14 are available in class and due on Friday.
Reading: None today due to extra time with writing.
Writing: Students made authority lists, which were lists of things, places and topics they knew a lot about. Today was also a prewriting day. Students started working on their first piece of writing, which is a personal narrative about one of their memories. Personal narratives are stories that have characters, places and action.
Homework is to finish decorating portfolios by Friday.
The first piece of writing, a personal narrative about a memory or event, is due into portfolios on Friday, September 23.
Math: None today due to art.
Science: We conducted an experiment to see if multitasking works (e.g., drawing a picture and trying to listen at the same time). Most students predicted that it is easier to focus all your brainpower on one task rather than try to do two things at once. To test this, Brendan was asked to write the alphabet, while Eli had to write the alphabet while counting aloud. Brendan finished the entire alphabet before Eli could finish half. We concluded that people can really only do one task at a time!
Social Studies: None today due to the assembly.
