Class activities for Tuesday, October 4
Spelling: Students worked on their Words to Learn lists today. This is a list of words missed on the last spelling test. Since words in fourth grade are used more than once, this is your student’s customized spelling list. If they practice these words, they will know them when they see them again. Some students are still working on their Words to Learn list and will be able to bring it home tomorrow.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 18-20 are available and due Friday.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles. Students talked with their book groups and shared questions, passages, illustrations and connections about the book.
Writing: None today due to our technology time.
A personal narrative is due into portfolios on Friday, October 14. Students should be completing their draft at this point.
Math: We practiced the distributive property by breaking apart larger problems: 7 * 13 = (7 * 10) + (7 * 3). Homework is to finish Math Journal P1-4 (even-numbered problems).
Science: None today due to our Math Skills time. Students are studying at Khan Academy. Ask your student how many badges and energy points they’ve earned!
The Energy Fair (more details here) is Friday, October 7.
Social Studies: We continued to learn about the market economy. Today we learned that a market economy includes private property rights and voluntary exchange. The government doesn’t own all the property, tools and factories in our economy, and no one is forced to buy or sell anything.
