Class activities for Friday, October 28
Today was our Hawaiian Beach Bash! Students surfed, put on Hawaiian shirts, threw frisbees, tossed foam noodles, ate pineapple slices, chewed on lemons and limes, had a hula-hoop contest, and danced to the Beach Boys! Later, it was Hawaiian pizza, Capri Suns and fruit kabobs! Thanks to all the families that helped with food, donations, decorations, games, setup and cleanup! Our party was totally tubular because of everyone’s help! Look for pictures and videos soon.
Spelling: We learned common spelling patterns for the /k/ sound: c, ck, ch, k, qu.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 27-29 are available and due Monday.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.
Writing: Students completed revising conferences today.
A slightly fictionalized personal narrative is due Friday, November 4. Students should be revising at this time.
Math: None today due to our Hawaiian Beach Bash.
Science: Students made oobleck (corn starch mixed with a little water). We noticed that oobleck sometimes acts like a solid, and sometimes acts like a liquid! Creepy!
Social Studies: None today due to our Hawaiian Beach Bash.
